Police or security

Establish the power and make communication accessible.

  • “Am I being detained, or am I free to leave?”
  • “What legal power are you using?”
  • “I am disabled. Explain each physical action before taking it.”
  • Ask for identification details in an accessible form.
  • Do not physically resist; record and challenge afterwards.

Private company

Describe the barrier, the disadvantage and the adjustment.

  • State that a process, rule or format creates a disability disadvantage.
  • Request a specific workable adjustment.
  • Ask for the response and reasons in writing.
  • Preserve receipts, messages, names, dates and screenshots.
  • Use the company’s complaint and escalation route.

Employer or recruiter

Put the adjustment request into a clear written record.

  • Explain the workplace or recruitment barrier.
  • Explain how it places you at a disadvantage.
  • Propose one or more adjustments.
  • Ask when the request will be reviewed.

Disabled veterans · beyond transition

This section is for veterans dealing with disability, trauma, addiction, housing instability, poverty, later-life deterioration or the justice system—not only people who have just left service.

Use both routes.

Check veteran-specific schemes and ordinary civilian disability, housing, healthcare, employment and equality rights. One route does not automatically replace the other.

Law and official guidance change. A right may depend on definitions, exemptions, thresholds, deadlines, evidence and the organisation involved. Verify the official source before acting.

3. External links

External websites are controlled by their respective organisations. Disability Enterprise Ltd is not responsible for their availability, accessibility or content.

4. Personal rights packs

Packs are assembled from the records you select. They do not prove that a legal claim exists.

5. Permitted use

You may use the public tool for personal, educational and non-commercial reference. Automated extraction, resale or republication of the database requires written permission.

6. Corrections

7. Governing law

These terms and use of this application are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply where a visitor lives.

What this application collects

This application uses Google Analytics only where the visitor has provided the required consent. It does not use advertising pixels, account registration, automatic location detection or server-side forms.

Browser storage

If storage is enabled, selected rights and access preferences are saved in your own browser using local storage. They are not sent to Disability Enterprise Ltd.

Opting out

Use Storage opt-out to clear saved selections and keep future choices in the current browser session only.

Email and external sources

Using an email link opens your own email service. Following an official-source link takes you to another organisation with its own privacy policy.

Changes to this service

If accounts, contact forms, location detection or additional data-processing services are introduced, this policy and the relevant consent controls will be updated before those features are activated.

How this application is designed

Disability Rights App is designed around WCAG 2.2 Level AA principles and provides built-in controls for different reading and motion needs.

Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility. We review reported barriers and prioritise fixes that prevent people from finding, understanding or saving rights information.
